Over 300 Organizations Funded!
The Ontario Seniors Community Grant Program (SCGP) is back for the 2025–26 cycle, and it’s an opportunity no community group should miss. With grants ranging from $1,000 to $25,000, the program helps seniors across Ontario stay active, socially connected, and empowered to live healthy, independent lives.
The application deadline was January 16, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. ET, via Transfer Payment Ontario.
Celebrating Impact Across Ontario
Since its launch in 2014, the SCGP has funded thousands of projects across the province, enriching the lives of seniors in both rural and urban communities.
In Eastern Ontario, seniors’ groups used their funding to launch intergenerational mentorship programs—pairing older adults with local students for shared learning in digital literacy and trades.
In Northern Ontario, funding supported wellness programs like walking clubs, chair yoga, and nutrition workshops, addressing social isolation in small and remote communities.
Across the GTA, cultural groups created arts, music, and storytelling initiatives that celebrated heritage while building bridges across diverse communities.
These projects aren’t just activities—they’re lifelines of connection, purpose, and belonging.
What’s New in 2025–26
This year, the program has exciting new features designed to meet evolving community needs:
Veterans Program Stream: New funding dedicated to projects that serve senior veterans, often in partnership with local Royal Canadian Legion branches.
Focus on Engagement: Priority is being placed on physical activity, social inclusion, and digital connectivity, helping seniors stay safe, healthy, and engaged in today’s world.
Why This Matters Now
Ontario’s senior population is growing faster than any other age group. With over 2.6 million Ontarians aged 65+, the need for community programs that combat isolation and promote health has never been greater. The SCGP offers grassroots organizations a chance to step up and design local solutions with lasting impact.
Every funded project is a celebration of seniors’ contributions—a recognition that older adults enrich communities with wisdom, resilience, and leadership.
Tips for a Strong Application
If your organization is preparing to apply, keep these steps in mind:
Define your impact clearly: How will your project improve seniors’ lives?
Show collaboration: Include partners like libraries, cultural groups, or healthcare providers.
Demonstrate inclusivity: Consider how your project reaches diverse seniors, including newcomers, rural residents, and veterans.
Start early: Applications require time for planning, gathering letters of support, and preparing budgets.

Let’s make this year’s projects the strongest yet.
