Terms of Service
GrantWizard is a trade name of 17795131 Canada Inc., a federally incorporated Canadian company.
Availability. GrantWizard provides services to organizations located in Canada, in relation to Canadian funding programs. The Services are not offered to, and are not intended for, users in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom. If you are accessing this site from those regions, please do not submit personal information through it.
1. What GrantWizard Is
GrantWizard provides professional funding strategy, grant writing, deadline support, post-award reporting and compliance support, budget amendment support, and training services to Canadian nonprofits, charities, social enterprises, municipalities, and grant writing firms.
GrantWizard is not a law firm, accounting firm, government body, funding agency, or grant-making organization. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Employment and Social Development Canada, any federal department or agency, any provincial or territorial ministry, any municipality, or any private foundation or funder.
2. No Funding Guarantee
We do not guarantee that any application will be approved, shortlisted, or funded. Funding decisions rest entirely with the funder. They depend on program budgets, competitive volume, policy priorities, assessor judgement, and factors outside our knowledge or control.
Nothing we say about a program, its requirements, or the likelihood of success is a prediction or a promise of outcome. We do not have access to non-public funder information, internal scoring, or assessor deliberations, and we do not represent that we do.
3. Accuracy and Client Responsibility
Our work is built from information you provide: your programs, your outcomes, your budgets, your organizational history. We structure, strengthen, and articulate that material. We do not invent facts, fabricate outcomes, inflate figures, or manufacture evidence.
You are responsible for:
- The accuracy and completeness of everything you supply to us;
- Reviewing every deliverable before it is submitted to a funder;
- The final content of any application submitted in your organization's name;
- All representations, certifications, and attestations made to a funder.
Where we submit on your behalf, we do so as your agent, on your instruction, and on the basis of material you have reviewed and approved.
4. Scope of Engagement
Services are delivered under a written engagement — a proposal, statement of work, or service agreement — which sets out the deliverables, timeline, and fee. Where these Terms and a signed engagement agreement conflict, the engagement agreement governs for that engagement.
Work outside the agreed scope is not included and may require a separate agreement. We may decline to pursue an opportunity we do not believe is genuinely winnable, or where the source material is insufficient to build a credible application.
5. Deadlines
Meeting a funding deadline depends on receiving what we need from you when we need it. Where required information, approvals, signatures, or supporting documents are not provided in time, we cannot guarantee submission.
For deadline and rescue engagements in particular, timelines are compressed by definition and depend on your team's availability.
6. Confidentiality
We treat your organizational information — financials, program data, strategy, board materials, unpublished plans — as confidential. We do not disclose it to third parties except as needed to deliver the engagement, or where required by law.
We may describe engagements in anonymized, non-identifying terms (for example, by sector and region) unless your engagement agreement says otherwise. We will not name your organization publicly, or quote you, without your written consent.
7. Subject Matter Experts
On large or technical engagements — research grants in particular — we may engage subject matter experts, including graduate and doctoral candidates working in your field, to guide technical direction and review the final submission. These contributors are bound by the same confidentiality obligations we are.
8. Fees and Payment
Fees are set out in your engagement agreement and are payable on the terms stated there, plus applicable taxes. Where we invoice, payment is due on the invoice terms. We may suspend work on overdue accounts.
We do not work on contingency. Our fees are not a percentage of funds awarded, and are not conditional on a funding decision. Many funders prohibit contingency-based grant writing fees, and success-based pricing creates an incentive we are not willing to carry.
9. Refunds
Fees for work performed are non-refundable. Because our services are labour-based and time-bound, effort expended cannot be recovered once spent.
Where we have failed to deliver a contracted deliverable for reasons within our control, contact us and we will make it right — by completing the work, or by refunding the portion of the fee attributable to what was not delivered. A funder's decision to decline an application is not a failure to deliver.
10. Intellectual Property
On payment in full, you own the final deliverables prepared for your organization and may use them for your own purposes, including future applications.
We retain ownership of our own underlying methods, frameworks, templates, checklists, internal tooling, and this website and its content. Nothing in an engagement transfers those to you, and deliverables may not be resold or redistributed as a standalone product.
11. Website Content
Content on this site — including any program summaries, guides, and articles — is general information published for Canadian organizations. It is not legal, financial, accounting, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for reading the funder's own program guidelines.
Funding programs change. Eligibility rules, deadlines, and funding envelopes are revised by funders without notice. Always confirm current details against the funder's official published materials before relying on anything here.
12. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Ask us to misrepresent facts, invent outcomes, or overstate capacity to a funder;
- Use the site or our services for any unlawful purpose;
- Attempt to probe, reverse engineer, disrupt, or bypass any part of this site or its systems;
- Submit another person's or organization's information without authority to do so.
We may suspend or end an engagement where these obligations are breached.
13. Disclaimer of Warranties
This website is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its content is complete or current. Services are provided with reasonable professional skill and care, and no other warranty is given except as required by applicable law.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to an engagement is limited to the fees paid to us for that engagement.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost funding, lost revenue, lost opportunity, or lost profit, however arising. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
15. Termination
Either party may end an engagement on the terms set out in the engagement agreement. On termination, fees for work performed up to the termination date remain payable. We may end an engagement immediately where continuing would require us to act dishonestly or unlawfully.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. The effective date above reflects the current version. Engagements already underway continue under the Terms in effect when the engagement agreement was signed.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in it. The courts of that province have exclusive jurisdiction, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
